My Latest Column: the GOP Moves to the Center

by Reihan Salam

If you get your news from the mainstream or left-of-center media, you’ll undoubtedly believe that the GOP has moved far to the right since the presidency of George W. Bush, thanks in part to the influence of the Tea Party movement. And if you get your news from the right-of-center media, you might believe the same thing through a more favorable lens. It turns out, however, that key congressional Republicans and a number of the major Republican presidential campaigns have actually moved to the center on the central domestic policy issues. Or at least that’s the case I make in my latest column for The Daily.

One thing I didn’t get to in the column: Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell’s 2009 campaign should be the model for national Republican campaigns going forward.
