‘Terrified’ EPA Begged DHS for Help as Hallway-pooping Problems ‘Escalated’

Newly released documents reveal that problems with Denver EPA employees placing feces where they didn’t belong had “escalated” to the point where they were “terrified” and begging the Department of Homeland Security for help.

“A male supervisor . . . told her that management knows that it is a female on the [redacted] floor who has been wiping feces and menstrual blood on the walls . . . and that they are worried that her behavior is escalating,” an official said Feb. 19 in an email titled “Oh boy.”

The same official said that an employee had even “refused to come into the office today because she is terrified after hearing a story on the train home last night.”

Grace Doris, head of the Region 8 office’s physical security, emailed DHS the next day requesting that “the number of patrols be increased immediately” for both the inside and outside of the building.

The bathroom problems began in December 2013 with someone urinating on the floor. By January, there was “a trail of poop leading out in hallway” from a men’s bathroom, according to the incident report obtained by Greenview.

Officials have said that the bathroom problems have since ceased, but, as of June 26, the culprits had still not been caught.
