National Review needs money. It always needs money.
It sells ads and subscriptions and runs cruises, but it still needs money. That’s not because the magazine can’t make it in the market. It’s the way the magazine makes it in the market.
And that’s how National Review can keep doing what it does: covering what’s going on in Washington, D.C., and in Chinese prison camps; explaining what liberals are getting wrong about, well, nearly everything; arguing about the minimum wage, the latest Supreme Court decision, or the merits of Groundhog Day; prodding politicians to do the right thing; and generally instructing, provoking, and sometimes delighting us. While we don’t spend lavish sums to do any of this, not much of it can be done for free.
