Let’s give the “climate of hate” rhetoric a rest for a moment. It’s time to talk about the climate of death, in which the abortion industry thrives unchecked. Dehumanizing rhetoric, rationalizing language, and a callous disregard for life have numbed America to its monstrous consequences. Consider the Philadelphia Horror.
In the City of Brotherly Love, hundreds of babies were murdered by a scissors-wielding monster over four decades. Whistleblowers informed public officials at all levels of the wanton killings of innocent life. But a parade of government health bureaucrats and advocates protecting the abortion racket looked the other way — until, that is, a Philadelphia grand jury finally exposed the infanticide factory run by abortionist Kermit B. Gosnell, M.D., and a crew of unlicensed, untrained butchers masquerading as noble providers of women’s “choice.” Prosecutors charged Gosnell and his death squad with multiple counts of murder, infanticide, conspiracy, abuse of corpse, theft, and other offenses.

The 281-page grand-jury report released Wednesday provides a bone-chilling account of how Gosnell’s “Women’s Medical Society” systematically preyed on poor, minority pregnant women and their live, viable babies. The report’s introduction lays out the criminal enterprise that claimed the lives of untold numbers of babies — and mothers:
This case is about a doctor who killed babies and endangered women. What we mean is that he regularly and illegally delivered live, viable babies in the third trimester of pregnancy — and then murdered these newborns by severing their spinal cords with scissors. The medical practice by which he carried out this business was a filthy fraud in which he overdosed his patients with dangerous drugs, spread venereal disease among them with infected instruments, perforated their wombs and bowels — and, on at least two occasions, caused their deaths. Over the years, many people came to know that something was going on here. But no one put a stop to it.
Echoing the same kind of dark euphemisms plied by Planned Parenthood propagandists who refer to unborn life as “fetal and uterine material,” Gosnell referred to his deadly trade as “ensuring fetal demise.” Reminiscent of the word wizards who refer to the skull-crushing partial-birth-abortion procedure as “intact dilation and evacuation” and “intrauterine cranial decompression,” Gosnell described his destruction of babies’ spinal cords as “snipping.” He rationalized his macabre habit of cutting off dead babies’ feet and saving them in rows and rows of specimen jars as “research.” His guilt-ridden employees then took photos of some of the victims before dumping them in shoeboxes, paper bags, one-gallon spring-water bottles, and glass jars.
They weren’t the only ones who adopted a see-no-evil stance:
● The Pennsylvania Department of Health knew of clinic violations dating back decades, but did nothing.
● The Pennsylvania Department of State was “repeatedly confronted with evidence about Gosnell” — including the clinic’s unclean, unsterile conditions, unlicensed workers, unsupervised sedation, underage abortion patients, and over-prescribing of pain pills with high resale value on the street — “and repeatedly chose to do nothing.”
● Philadelphia Department of Public Health officials who regularly visited Gosnell’s human-waste-clogged offices did nothing.
● Nearby hospital officials who treated some of the pregnant mothers who suffered grave complications from Gosnell’s butchery did nothing.
● An unnamed evaluator with the National Abortion Federation, the leading association of abortion providers that is supposed to uphold strict health and legal standards, determined that Gosnell’s chamber of horrors was “the worst abortion clinic she had ever inspected” — but did nothing.
Meanwhile, the death racketeers have launched a legislative and regulatory assault across the country on pro-life crisis-pregnancy centers from New York City to Baltimore, Austin, and Seattle that offer abortion alternatives, counseling, and family services to mostly poor, vulnerable minority women.
Already, left-wing journalists and activists have rushed to explain that these abortion atrocities ignored for four decades by abortion radicals and rationalizers are not really about abortion. A Time magazine writer argued that the Philadelphia Horror was “about poverty, not Roe v. Wade.” A University of Minnesota professor declared: “This is not about abortion.”
But the grand jury itself pointed out that loosened oversight of abortion clinics enacted under pro-choice former GOP governor Tom Ridge enabled Gosnell’s criminal enterprise — and led to the heartless execution of hundreds of babies. Mass murder got a pass in the name of expanding “access” and appeasing abortion lobbyists.
As the report made clear: “With the change of administration from [pro-life Democratic] Gov. Casey to Gov. Ridge,” government health officials “concluded that inspections would be ‘putting a barrier up to women’ seeking abortions. Better to leave clinics to do as they pleased, even though, as Gosnell proved, that meant both women and babies would pay.”
Deadly indifference to protecting life isn’t tangential to the abortion industry’s existence — it’s at the core of it. The Philadelphia Horror is no anomaly. It’s the logical, bloodcurdling consequence of an evil, eugenics-rooted enterprise wrapped in feminist clothing.
Why have we not heard President Obama comment on this horror? He feels obligated to weigh in on so many other issues. Where is his condemnation of how "regulation has failed us?" Where is the outrage?
Silence...wouldn't want to upset the pro-abortion crowd.
Has he already identified this as racially motivated?
He will.
I'll believe they're serious when they identify all the public employees who reviewed this charnel house and took no action:
1. testify before Grand Jury
2. refuse? jail until you do
3. fired
4. fire their supervisors
Just as we here nothing from the so called moderate Muslims on the murderous jihadists, so planned parenthood will absent itself from condemning this mass murdering abortion doctor.
1. Each state employee who failed in their job to prevent this or do something when they had or should have had knowledge should be fired (or pension taken away), if not prosecuted.
2. Each taxpayer funded entity that is guilty of same should be de-funded.
Even now, local politicians are scrambling to find a "perpetrator" in local gov't to pin this on - no doubt whatsoever; soon the evil janitor (or yardkeeper) who masterminded this will be brought to justice. Then business returns to usual, nothing to see here, ignore the murderers behind the curtain please...
It is so completely atypical, and atrocious a mindset that pervades our politics.
He STARTED some of his late abortions (including the abortion that ended in the murder of Baby Boy A) at a National Abortion Federation clinic in Delaware, then would have the patient meet him at his Philly mill to finish the job. This is very similar to what Steven Chase Brigham was doing -- and NAF came out of the shadows to roundly condemn him and call him "the worst we've ever seen."
Oh, really? When you had THIS GUY continue to work at one of your clinics after one of your inspectors had visited his clinic? You had THIS GUY take YOUR patients to that filthy cesspool?
I think NAF is criminally responsible. At the very least, they need to get nailed to the wall for false advertising.
Obama, as a state senator, opposed the Illinois Born Alive Infant Protection Act. The Act would have forced abortion provides to give medical attention to babies that survived a botched abortion. Obama opposed this saying that he felt the act would disrupt the original intent of the woman. Well, what would be the original intent? One would think that an abortion is the termination of a pregnancy. But, not according to Obama. In his mind, abortion in NOT about the right to terminate a pregnancy, it is the right to a dead child. Obama is silent, because Obama gives consent.
Yes Mark, an American Dr. Mengele. Dr. Mengele was supported by the Nazi party, and this evil swine was supported by our modern, homegrown equivalent of the Nazis: the American Left. All the do-nothings mentioned by Ms. Malkin are of the American Left.
I'd be careful making a spectacle of this tragedy. He was performing ILLEGAL late term abortions. Hard line pro-choicers could easily argue that this sort of back-alley treatment is what happens when you restrict access to abortion at any stage. It could seriously backfire.
Don't hold it against Philly, this is going on all over the place. In Birmingham, AL we have a Planned Parenthood Clinit that has had multiple violations with no consequences. Last year they made the news when an investigation was done. A college age girl called, saying she was 15 and pregnant but her 30-yr old boyfriend (Statutory rape?)wanted her to get an abortion (without parental consent). She was told that the clinic can "bend the rules". We have "abortion tourism" from TN, MS and GA because it is known how lax the clinic is at adhering to the law! Our old Attorney General wouldn't press charges. Hopefully the new one will.
Years ago 4 Pro-Life individuals had an injunction that stated they couldn't be on the same side of the street as the abortion mill. This has been "interpreted" to mean that NO pro-life individual can. During the Pro-Life March last Saturday we had to cross the street past a phalanx of police officers with their motorcycles making a wall. The March was lead by the Birmingham Police Incident Command RV! Our right to freedom of movement is curtailed and thousands of dollars are wasted. If you want to rob a bank in Birmingham, I can tell you where all the cops will be on at least one Saturday morning. It is a disgrace!
Not only was the PA Dept. of Health to blame for this house of horrors, the administration of our former mayor, Ed Rendell (who, like many big-city Dems, has never met an abortion he didn't like) was extremely lax, to stay the least, when it came to inspecting these facilities.
I am not only ashamed of my state, I am ashamed of being a Philadelphian.
This man is a soulness monster who deserves prison for causing the deaths and avoidable pain and suffering of those women who trusted him to perform their abortions. But any woman who went to him for a third trimester abortion is no less a monster, no matter HOW badly botched the "procedure," which is always, in every case, just a euphemism for infanticide.
“Who Referred Women to Dr. Gosnell’s Murder Clinic?
Dr. Gosnell is a multi-millionaire. He was getting lots of business. (Credit Ace) for asking the question that any good reporter should be asking at this point “Who referred Gosnell such a steady stream of business?”
No doubt some of it was word of mouth, but is it just possible that other clinics in the area who weren’t willing to “help” certain women because they knew it was illegal to do so, might mention Dr. Gosnell as an option.
As it happens, Planned Parenthood has a whole bunch of clinics (marked blue) within a half hour drive of Dr. Gosnell’s Women’s Health Society (marked red). There are also lots of independent abortion clinics (marked green):”
This outrage is the logical consequence of saying abortion is morally licit at any stage. No one who supports abortion could rationally condemn anything done at that "clinic", except for the use of street kids to provide medical care.
@tflavin "I'd be careful making a spectacle of this tragedy. He was performing ILLEGAL late term abortions. Hard line pro-choicers could easily argue that this sort of back-alley treatment is what happens when you restrict access to abortion at any stage. It could seriously backfire."
You obviously don't get it. Since Roe v Wade was handed down by the Supreme Court 38 years ago today, over 52 million babies have been conveniently murdered in thier mother's wombs, and double that amount of people left with the emotional damage that comes with killing one's unborn child.
52 MILLION - can anyone even imagine it?
Making a spectacle of this tragedy is exactly what needs to happen, because we have become too placated and comfortable with this hidden holocaust in our nation. I wept when I read the reports! It's not about ILLEGAL late term abortions; the issue is about abortion as birth control, and how complacent we have become rather than value human life.
Let's talk about Margaret Sanger (founder of Planned Parenthood)and her stated goal of limiting the Negro population in New York City through accessible abortion. And now, 80 years later, 60% of all African-American pregnancies in NYC are terminated?
"Seriously backfire"? when the inevitable conclusion of Roe v Wade is this doctor's unchecked "clinic"? God help us.
At least now the horror is exposed. It's up to citizens all across our nation to make changes in our communities, lest we sink to Dr. Gosnell's level of depravity.
