Sen. Barbara Boxer has begun airing a Spanish-language TV ad that blasts Republican Carly Fiorina for laying off workers at Hewlett-Packard and supporting the Arizona immigration law.
“Carly Fiorina. As the the CEO of Hewlett-Packard, she laid off 30,000 workers,” says the narrator, according to the English translation provided by the Boxer campaign. “Families suffered when Fiorina exported thousands of jobs from California to China. And she left with $100 million dollars in her pocket.”
“Fiorina is against comprehensive immigration reform,” continues the narrator. “And prefers a discriminatory law like the Arizona law.” The ad then cuts to a clip of Fiorina saying, in English, that she would vote for the Arizona law.
“Carly Fiorina. She is not with us. Her only interest is herself,” concludes the narrator.
Both Fiorina and Boxer have been fighting to attract Hispanic voters. The LA Times/USC poll had Boxer with a 38-point lead among Hispanics, while the SurveyUSA poll gave Boxer a 19-point lead.
The Susan B. Anthony List and the National Organization for Marriage are airing a Spanish-language ad supporting Fiorina currently, touting her social conservative values.
The Boxer ad will air in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Fresno.
