An attorney for the Sharron Angle campaign said she plans to take the Nevada Secretary of State up on his suggestion that formal, detailed complaints be submitted to his office regarding questionable activity in and around polling places.
“We are very glad the Secretary of State is publicly taking these issues seriously,” said Cleta Mitchell, general counsel for the Angle campaign, in a response to statements made by Secretary of State Ross Miller to the press Wednesday morning.
“We are going to take the Secretary at his word, and we are going through all the reports we’ve received on the Election Day Operations Legal Hotline regarding problems and issues during the early voting process,” said Mitchell. “We will prepare and submit formal reports of the more serious reports.”
Mitchell said the campaign is also in the process of supplementing the 44-page document submitted to the Secretary of State by the Nevada Republican Party on Monday of this week “regarding errors, discrepancies, and deviations from policies and protocols previously published by election officials.”
Mitchell is also calling on the Secretary of State to issue statewide standards to be followed by all counties for the counting of paper ballots, both absentee and provisional.
“To date, there are no statewide standards, which is troubling and which is not consistent with the Supreme Court’s decision in Bush v. Gore.,” she said.
