Texas Sen. John Cornyn, chairman of the NRSC, and a critical supporter of Pat Toomey’s candidacy in Pennsylvania, released the following statement in light of Toomey’s victory:
“Pennsylvanians sent a clear message tonight when they elected former businessman Pat Toomey to the U.S. Senate. Pat won this race by focusing his campaign on the issues that matter most to the voters in his state: spurring job creation, lowering taxes, reducing the size of government, and driving down America’s debt. I look forward to working with Senator-elect Toomey to fight for the fiscal accountability that Pennsylvanians deserve.”
The NRSC pumped some $6.6 million into the race in a state that President Obama won in 2008 by 11 points.
