PENNSYLVANIA: BLAIR COUNTY REPORTS IN [Chris Lilik 10/19 11:51 PM]

From Jason High of Blair County, PA:

I live in Blair County, PA and I have to tell you, I was starting to wonder about this longtime bastion of conservative Republicans. In recent weeks I have seen a huge surge in the number of Kerry/Edwards yard signs and stickers along major traffic routes and in yards all over the county. I was never really concerned about whether or not Blair County would go for Bush/Cheney (it's long been assumed that it will), but I began to be concerned about by how much it would go for the President.

Those fears have been calmed. Today members of the Altoona City Council came out in support of the President. Also, I attended a local Republican County Committee meeting to begin to coordinate the 72-hour team effort for Bush. I was extremely impressed with the turnout. After receiving comment from many that the County Committee was disorganized and ineffective, I was surprised at the level of support at a Committee event. When you combine this with the efforts that the highly energized Young Conservatives of Pennsylvania (YCOP) have put forth, Blair County is sure to deliver the votes necessary for Bush. There is an extremely strong surge of support for the President in this county, and it is sure to continue to get stronger. YCOP and others are committed to putting the President back in the White House, and it looks as if Pennsylvania is on course to do that.
