IOWA: BUSH-KERRY MILES APART [Brian Kennedy 10/20 06:04 AM]
This morning finds Iowa once again simultaneously hosting both President Bush and Senator Kerry as they campaign just a few miles apart. The Des Moines Register reports that President Bush will rally the GOP in Mason City while Kerry offers a policy address just down the road in Waterloo to explain how he will “hunt and kill” terrorists with the very same weapons systems he spent twenty years in the Senate opposing. Actually, by 2004 standards simultaneous Iowa campaign appearance 80 miles apart constitutes a great distance. Back on August 4th Bush and Kerry both campaigned in Davenport at the same time a mere three blocks apart. As you might recall law enforcement’s focus on securing the campaign venues invited a rash of bank robberies. Maybe today in Iowa should be declared a bank holiday.
