Yesterday, John Edwards held a rally in the liberal bastion of Iowa City on the campus of the University of Iowa. There hasn’t been such fervency seen at the U of I since George McGovern’s storied 1972 landslide win here in Johnson County. Old timers tell me Nixon carried Iowa’s other 98 counties. The most amusing episode of the day was the street theater provided by twenty or so College Republicans who stood in defense of freedom. One dressed as trial lawyer Edwards including suit, tie and Breck Girl hair waving in the wind, was chasing another dressed as an ambulance. Speaking of Edwards’ hair, check out this link that Iowa Republicans have been emailing around, if you haven't already. Even John Edwards can have a bad hair day.
