IOWA: MORE MEDIA BIAS, & GOOD NEWS [David Hogberg 10/23 08:58 PM]
Well, State 29 was correct: the Iowa newspapers ignored the two new polls
showing Bush with a six-point lead. Nothing at the Des Moines Register,
Cedar Rapids Gazette, or Quad City Times. But the Des Moines Register did
manage to get in a picture of Chuck Grassley that makes him look silly
(scroll down). It wonąt matter though, as Grassley will squash Art Small
like a bug.
I also spoke to a former fellow employee where I worked in Iowa, Amy Frantz.
In her spare time, she volunteers for the GOP in Henry County. She was
upbeat about the campaign. Like my friend in Southeast Iowa, Amy says,
"there are a lot more people stopping by headquarters this year. Far more
than in 2000." She also noted that she recently met a new person at
headquarters who was a social conservative motivated by the stem cell issue.
Maybe Karl Rove will succeed in propelling more evangelicals to the polls
this year.
