PENNSYLVANIA: RALLYING THE AMISH [David Hogberg 10/28 03:22 PM]
I have to wonder how accurate the polls are in Pennsylvania. To understand why, see the front page of today’s edition of the Washington Post Express, which displays a picture of a Bush rally that includes Amish! Now, I’ll confess my complete ignorance about the Amish. All I know is what I get from Hollywood, and when it comes to religion they are about as trustworthy as an arsonist with a flamethrower. So this is what I think I know: (1) The Amish don’t regularly vote, let alone show up at political rallies; and (2) The Amish don’t have regular access to phones. Thus, if they are participating this time, it is a boost for Bush, but that boost wouldn’t show up in the polls since pollsters, obviously, can’t contact them. To set me straight, please send me an email at dpokerhog@yahoo.com .
