An e-mail from reader who saw W. in New Hampshire this morning:
I found out that Schilling cancelled out while I was in line to see Bush this morning. Speculation up here is that the owners of the Red Sox, who are well known Democrats (one was in my town last Saturday pushing Kerry) got to him and “asked” him not to go today. I really don’t know what kind of leverage they have over him, what are they going to do, release the guy who brought the World Series to Boston?
It would be no big deal if Schilling had never planned to go on the stump with W, but to back out after the announcement can’t possibly do Bush any good.
Another interesting note from today, the confetti was dropped prematurely, so Bush delivered the last 2 minutes of his speech with a piece of white confetti on top of his head.
