The Originalism Blog

Text

I’m pleased to pass along that the University of San Diego’s Center for the Study of Constitutional Originalism has established The Originalism Blog. According to law professor and Center director Michael B. Rappaport, the blog aims to “be a ‘one stop site’ for those who are interested in originalism from any perspective” (including critics). (H/t Jonathan Adler at the Volokh Conspiracy.)

Rappaport is one of the leading originalist scholars, and his Center and blog promise to make important contributions to the development of originalist methodology.

For readers unfamiliar with what originalism is, I’d offer as my own introductions to the topic my NRO essay “Are You an Originalist? Take this simple test and find out” and my review—“Scalia the Originalist”—of two collections of opinions by Justice Scalia. Those interested in methodological disputes about what originalism entails might find worthwhile my exchange with Yale law professor Jack Balkin. (My posts are here, here, here, here, here, and here and include links to Balkin’s articles and his response to me.)
