Some three weeks ago, I called attention to the fact that Justice Stevens, who has retired from active service on the Supreme Court but who remains a federal judge (see point 2 here), would be the honoree at a big fundraising dinner for the Equal Justice Initiative. That dinner occurred two nights ago.
As Tony Mauro reports on BLT, Stevens spoke at the dinner. He not only vehemently criticized the Court’s recent decision on prosecutorial immunity in Connick v. Thompson. He also specifically proposed that Congress adopt a statutory fix.
I await the Left’s condemnation of Stevens’s intrusion into the political realm and of his fundraising assistance for an organization that takes contentious political positions.
