It’s not just Pawlenty anymore: We now have seen at least two more presidential candidates bring up their philosophy of judicial nominations.
Newt Gingrich announced that choosing judges “will be one of the major issues in 2012. I think it’s outrageous, the arrogance [and] anti-American hostility of a number of our judges.” He pointed to judges’ understanding of the Declaration of Independence and the divine source of our rights as key to his philosophy.
Mitt Romney, in the context of discussing his pro-life positions, stated that “I will only appoint judges who adhere to the Constitution and the laws as they are written, not as they want them to be written.”
