No Laughing Matter

Text

The “summary” of how the Justices divided in Santos is, as Robert VerBruggen says, “hilarious.”  And over a seemingly insignificant and even simple question: does the word mean profits or revenue when it comes to the federal money laundering law?   That “proceeds” could be so divisive should surprise no one who knows his Church history.  Filioque — the Nicene Creed assertion which holds that the Holy Ghost “proceeds” from both the Father and the Son — rent Christianity for centuries, and still distinguishes, for example, the Greek from the Latin Church.

Sic transit gloria.
