According to a new report by Jan Crawford Greenburg, the White House is preparing a list of potential Supreme Court nominees just in case there is a surprise retirement this summer. At the instruction of President Bush the list consists of female and minority candidates. Among those Greenburg says are under consideration include some names we’ve heard before, such as Circuit Court judges Priscilla Owen, Janice Rogers Brown, Edith Brown Clement, and Diane Sykes. Others Greenburg mentions include Florida Supreme Court Justice Raoul Cantero and federal district court judge Loretta Preska. Greenburg stresses that the White House does not expect a resignation from the Court, but wants to be prepared just in case.
