Nominees Move Slowly

Yesterday, the Senate finally confirmed another of President Bush’s appellate nominees: Professor Debra Livingston to be a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.  Another nominee, Leslie Southwick, nominated to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, will face a grilling today from the Senate Judiciary Committee.  Howard Bashman has details here .

 Meanwhile, Republican Senator Sam Brownback is still questioning the nomination of Judge Janet Neff to be a federal distrcit cort judge in Michigan because of concerns about her views on gay marriage, and the Bush Administration continues to drag its feet in naming additional nominees.  Here’s a current list of judicial vacancies.
