Weekend Reading

For regular visitors to this blog, there are four items of interest in the Weekly Standard just out today (I link to all four, but only one can be read in its entirety by non-subscribers).  First is a review by our own Ed Whelan, which I can’t permit myself to read because I’ve been engaged to review the same book elsewhere.  Next is a review of a book about George Mason, widely regarded as the godfather of the Bill of Rights (if James Madison was the true father, that is).  Third is an article by Cornell political scientist Jeremy Rabkin on the prospects for a German prosecution of Donald Rumsfeld on “war crimes” charges.  And last is an article by one of America’s best law professors, Robert Nagel of Colorado, on why both “Journalists and Judges” can’t be trusted with matters concerning national security secrets.
