Tom Davis, Out to Lunch

Text

Tonight on FNC’s Special Report with Brit Hume, reporter Major Garrett filed a story about the anti-constitutional idea of giving the District of Columbia full voting representation in the House of Representatives. With Democrats coming to power, this loopy idea is being resuscitated. The Dems have the help of Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA), who is apparently ineducable on this subject, but to whom I might point out my September NRO piece for starters.

On the one side, slogans like “no taxation without representation.” On the other side, the Constitution, which grants seats in Congress only to states. It will be no surprise if the new Democratic majority chooses the first over the second. But do Republicans really have to aid and abet assaults on the Constitution?
