Georgia Gay Marriage Ban Voided
As the New York Times and other outlets are reporting, a Fulton County Superior Court judge, Constance Russell, yesterday struck down the constitutional amendment passed by Georgia voters in 2004. It seems that, according to the judge, the referendum violated the state constitution’s rule that amendments be on a single subject. I can’t find that Judge Russell’s opinion is posted anywhere online, nor does it yet appear on Lexis-Nexis. If any readers have a link (or the opinion in electronic form), I’d appreciate them sending it to me here, with my thanks in advance.
