The Mendacity Continues

The Leadership Conference on Civil Rights has just e-mailed a statement by its executive director, Wade Henderson, that falsely contends that “instead of allowing a full, open and thorough debate, Senate leaders short circuited and shut down the opportunity for America’s citizens to hear all sides.” But as Democrat leader Harry Reid said last week, “No one can complain on this matter that there hasn’t been sufficient time to talk about Judge Alito, pro and con.” Indeed, Democrats failed to use all the floor time that was available to them.

By his lie, Henderson is attempting to obscure that supporters of Democrats’ unprecedented filibuster effort were aiming to kill Alito’s nomination, not to ensure a “full, open and thorough debate.” Can’t the Left even be honest about that?
