Announced formally at the conclusion of the hearing that he intends to vote for Judge Alito and that his testimony went “as far as he could go” on abortion and privacy, and that “there’s not a dime’s worth of difference” between the substance of Judge Alito’s and Chief Justice Roberts’s testimony on the subject.
Senator Specter reminds us that John Kerry campaigned on a promise to nominate only pro-choice justices to the Supreme Court, while President Bush had “no litmus test,” and he said “I have no litmus test either.”
