Republican staff gave Drudge that story, even knowing Dujack was already near-certain out as a witness, to make Dems look like bufoons for having called him as a witness–assuming the PETA-Holocaust stuff would reach a broader audience as his name got out more. The staff knew it had gotten enough publicity to get him kicked off the list but not a sufficient amount to make a dent on public opinion of Dems and their tactics.

That’s a total Friday-night stray thought.

Of course, it’s possible Drudge’s source just hadn’t heard the Dujack-was-pulled rumor at 5:30ish too.
