Wisdom From Twenty Years Ago

Over at TAE Online, the site of The American Enterprise magazine at AEI, Joe Knippenberg has a very thoughtful piece posted today, taking up E.J. Dionne’s challenge to conservatives last week to engage in the abortion debate some seem to want to avoid. Joe ruminates on the constitutional wisdom contained in Judge Alito’s 1985 memo on the Thornburgh case, calling it “a model of how to proceed strategically and morally in the face of a vigorous national debate.” Judge Alito could do worse than reread it himself, and gird for battle with the Senate Democrats as the January 9 hearing approach.
