One Can Always Dream

In my dream there is a massive fight within the Republican party over President Bush’s nomination to fill the O’Connor seat. I see Time magazine quoting a former West Wing official, who says: “They’re crazy for taking him on this frontally. Not many people have done that with George Bush and lived to tell about it.”

In my dream Harriet Miers looms large. She is the one delivering this doomsday message to Susan Collins, Lincoln Chaffee & Co., on behalf of another Texas gal, Edith Jones.
