White House Communications on Miers
For reasons I don’t understand, on both the Roberts and the Miers nomination, the White House has not used its nominee webpage as an effective rapid-response vehicle. How much better it would be if the White House would respond to any distortions of Miers’s record by promptly and publicly providing, and standing behind, a definitive account of the facts, with full documentation hyperlinked. Instead, from what I can tell, the modus operandi has been to filter responses through less-than-fully-informed surrogates. I fear that the quality and reliability of the responses has suffered seriously as a result.
