Obama: “Nobody is suffering more than the Palestinian people”

Text

Obama, discussing Israel and Palestine:

“Nobody is suffering more than the Palestinian people,” Obama said while on the final leg of his weekend trip to eastern Iowa.

“If we could get some movement among Palestinian leadership, what I’d like to see is a loosening up of some of the restrictions on providing aid directly to the Palestinian people,” he added.

Okay. What if you don’t get some movement among Palestinian leadership? What if they remain as dedicated to destroying Israel and stubborn in their refusal to recognize Israel’s right to exist as they have been so far?

In fact, what gives him such optimism that we’re going to see “some movement” among their leaders, when the population as a whole continues to celebrate their sons and daughters growing up to be suicide bombers? Besides the audacity of hope, I mean?
