Gallup informs us this morning:

An average of 59 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents have said they are more enthusiastic than usual about voting this year compared with past elections, the highest average Gallup has found in a midterm election year for either party since the question was first asked in 1994.

Only 44 percent of Democrats and Democrat-leaning independents describe themselves that way.

For perspective, in 1994, the split was 42 percent of Republicans felt that way, and 32 percent of Democrats. In 2006, 50 percent of Democrats and Democratic leaners were enthused, compared to 40 percent on the GOP side.
