Oh Good, Our President Is Bringing Up Joe Barton Again

The oil has been spilling for 71 days; Joe Barton made his comment about apologizing to BP thirteen days ago.

Obama’s remarks, scheduled for later today:

“The top Republican on the energy committee even had the nerve to apologize to BP for the fact that we made them set up this fund. Apologize to BP! He actually called the fund ‘a tragedy.’ A tragedy? A tragedy is what the people of the Gulf are going through right now. That’s the tragedy. And our government has a responsibility to hold the corporations accountable that caused it,” says Obama according to excerpts.

With Obama focusing relentlessly on the partisan point-scoring, and ignoring actual policy changes that could help matters, he deserves criticism as tough as this video:

To reiterate a point made in the Corner, this is an administration so focused on ensuring no crisis goes to waste that they never seem to find the time to actually solve the crisis.

Jim, Jim, Jim - you just don't seem to get it. Solving the crisis is letting it go to waste! Once it's solved, it can no longer be exploited to implement government-bloating policies. The high political art form here, incidentally, is convincing the public that you're doing everything possible to solve the crisis, while in reality doing just the opposite.

No, a state of perpetual crisis is the ideal of the liberal (or the 'fascist', per Jonah's magnum opus).

Didn't Obama have a meeting on an "oil spill response bill" today, and then call a Republican congressman out of order for wanting to talk about repsonse to the, um, oil spill?

Cuz Obama's idea of a response is some nonsense about "climate change". Beyond Pathetic!!
