Linda McMahon’s campaign isn’t just attack ads. She goes for a deep emotional connection in this one-minute ad.
Democrat Richard Blumenthal is hanging on to his lead because of a strong lead among women. If McMahon can chip away at that foundation, then one of the all-time collapses in modern politics will be complete . . .
If there really was a GOP wave coming (I don't think there is), then this ad coupled with the "how do you create a job" spot would lead McMahon to victory. I'm surprised just how good a candidate she's been, to be honest.
This would be great if it could be cut down into a 30-second spot and run as her closing argument. Love Linda McMahon, and I can't help but think she has the perfect temperament for the U.S. Senate.
I, too, loved the "how do you create a job" spot. In fact, the first thing I thought of as I watched Blumenthal struggle to explain how a job was created was the March Hare trying to explain what an "unbirthday" was in the 1951 Disney version of "Alice in Wonderland" Admittedly, the March Hare's befuddlement was of a shorter duration than Blumenthal's.
Women are the voting block that will decide whether the people of Connecticut are represented by a successful business woman or a career politician who lied about serving in the Vietnam War and threatened to take bonuses away from people who were contractually entitled to receive them. Woman do much of the nuturing and teaching in our society, so it would be very discouraging to find out that personal integrity and honor mean so little to them.
I remember when I read Rich Lowry's commentary on Linda's unelectability in Connecticut. I remember thinking, "Rich hasn't been to the DMV in a while".
There is a huge enthusiasm gap and if we get bad weather on Nov 2 the Republicans should do well.
