It’s rather fascinating to watch unnamed White House sources begin to subtly and not-so-subtly hit Ambassador Jon Huntsman, an increasingly-probable presidential candidate, like this..
“It’s also good to see Jon Huntsman, our ambassador to China,” Daley said, according to a source in the room. “Or as we call him around the White House: the Manchurian Candidate. I want Jon to know that the president has no hard feelings. In fact, he just did an interview with the Tea Party Express saying how integral he has been to the success of the Obama administration.”
and this…
For all their quips, Obama officials are a tad irritated at the barely-veiled presidential moves of their own ambassador in one of the most important countries in the world.
… because these unnamed White House staffers seem oblivious to the rejoinder: “Hey, if Huntsman is a Manchurian stooge/disloyal/overly ambitious, which fool hired him to be our ambassador to China?”
Its kind of funny that Obama hired him to be Ambassador in part to try and nullify him as a future Presidential candidate ... its must be frustrating when someone you thought you nullified doesn't stay nullified ...
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThe key to follow is Huntsman would be the manchurian candidate to the Rs,..... as one thinks (Huntsman, a quintessential RINO who would not mind an Obama win in 2012 again) he is an Obama regmine plant to muddy things up in the R primaires (similar to Op Chaos in 2008);
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseHuntsman entering the race will only affect one other candidate, Romney. He can only suck up a small percentage of the total vote, but almost all of it will come from people who would otherwise be Romney voters.
If Huntsman runs, it increases the likelihood of a tea party nominee... whoever that might be.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI know nothing about Huntsman other than he was governor of Utah and some sort of executive, so I am curious - how is he a RINO (a characterization I've seen in many postings about him)? Is it an environmental position, something about taxes? Would love to understand the specific objection. Thanks.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseHuntsman is a RINO and may be an Obama plant to muddy the GOP primaries. There's no way the Tea Party will vote for this guy. He supports gay marriage, is pro amnesty, believes in global warming, etc... There’s a reason why the Utah Tea Party booed Huntsman. Utah Tea Party: "I couldn’t care less if he can speak Chinese or was governor of Utah... Huntsman is a progressive republican, and held liberal positions while in office. He is a liberal on social issues, an amnesty shill, and publicly endorsed cap and trade". External Link
