A Toast . . . or Perhaps His Presidency Is Toast.

Look at the bright side, America. Sure, unemployment’s been 9 percent or higher for 21 straight months, most of the housing markets are awful, foreclosures are hitting all-time highs, and one in seven Americans is on food stamps, another all-time high. But the economy is doing well for some folks, like this group of technology business leaders meeting with President Obama in Woodside, California, last night.

Obama toasting with Silicon Valley executives.

To Recovery Summer Fall Winter Spring! May the good times continue!

What a picture. Recovery for all in this room. Eric Schimdt does not miss a meal. To his left the Past(Jobs) and to his right the Future(Zuckerberg).

What a grand photo of well meaning humans. How many drove up in a electric car? How many took the bus? How many took a cab? Lastly, how many of them own guns?

Just another 5 course meal with friends.

The technology sector is one area that the US competes very well and not by coincidence an area that receives very little govt. funds. These people may be liberals but they are good business people and I respect that. Energy companies, agribusiness, and of course the US auto companies excepting Ford are the true crony capitalists.

Can you imagine Bush toasting a bunch of oil execs with unemployment at 10%, it'd be the lead news.

I don't have any problem with the POTUS meeting business leaders. Still, I have copied this photo onto my desktop till the next time some numbskull relative or old classmates goes on this rant about Republicans and their fat cat corporate sponsors. It goes both ways or acey-deucie (ACDC)

Oh Jim this is probably the worst post ever. It's lazy and immature. Anyone can post pictures and make lazy conclusions.

"4 more years.... 4 more years... 17% actual real unemployment for 4 more years!"

That is really what they are toasting.

A few quick thoughts about this picture of Obama schmoozing with some of the cream of America's high-tech business titans:

1.) Personally, as a believer in free enterprise, it does not bother me in the least to see rich people enjoying the good life while many of their fellow Americans are suffering economically. I endorse what Ayn Rand said when asked "What about the poor?" Rand's answer: "Make sure you're not one of them." However, for President Obama who constantly attacks rich people, is disdainful of private enterprise and who deceitfully poses as do all Democratic politicians as one of the "tribunes of the people", this photo obviously shows Obama to be a hypocrite. I wonder how many business bashing left wing websites whose owners voted for Obama are featuring this photo?

2.) Regarding the internet tycoons toasting with Obama: maybe some of these folks don't really like Obama but they consider it wise for the future of their companies in the current political atmosphere of Obama's crony capitalism to curry his favor now to stave off him regulating or taxing them to death later. Or maybe these folks are idiot savants. That is, they are brilliant in their own narrow fields of technical expertise which they used to get rich, but they are ignorant and naive about politics, dazzled by famous celebrities and therefore just like get their picture made with the president so they can show it off to their Chamber of Commerce buddies.

3.) My wishful thinking suggestions in #2 above are almost certainly wrong. The correct explanation is all these rich folks with Obama are classic limousine liberals, or as Sean Hannity calls them now, lear jet liberals. A limousine liberal is a person who makes his fortune in the free enterprise private sector and then bites the hand that feeds him, which he can afford to do once he gets rich. That is, he votes for and supports liberal politicians whose socialist agendas if enacted, would make it more difficult for other people to get rich. This idea can be quickly summarized as "I got mine Jack, so screw you." In Obama's vision of a socialist, welfare state America, none of the high tech companies that made these people rich would ever been invented in the first place.

"No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be?"
