Over on the home page, my friend Cam Edwards and I take a look at the “gun-walking” scandal at the ATF and the difficulty Congressional investigators are having in getting answers out of the administration.
Great column. I think you hit on the central question. Why did someone in the administration want thousands of guns going into Mexico? The argument that they wanted to roll up the cartels on gun charges is laughable. That's like saying you want top get them for unpaid parking tickets.
My guess is some political hack thought this would make a political point. Somewhere down the road, they would sweep up the little guys and claim it is American gun laws causing the violence in Mexico. But, plain old government stupidity is always an option.
