Most Democrats scoff at claims of election fraud.
They shouldn’t:
The signatures of dozens, if not hundreds, of northern Indiana residents were faked on petitions used to place presidential candidates on the state primary ballot in 2008, The Tribune and Howey Politics Indiana have revealed in an investigation.
Several pages from petitions used to qualify Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama for the state’s Democratic primary contain names and signatures that appear to have been copied by hand from a petition for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jim Schellinger. The petitions were filed with the Indiana Election Division after the St. Joseph County Voter Registration Office verified individuals’ information on the documents.
St. Joseph County Prosecutor Michael Dvorak’s name appears twice on the Clinton petitions. After The Tribune faxed one of the signatures to him, Dvorak identified that signature as his own and confirmed that he had signed the petition. Dvorak did not respond after a copy of the second signature on the same petition was faxed to him by The Tribune.
Spokeswoman Lora Bentley later said the prosecutor could no longer comment on the matter because it was now under investigation. Falsifying a ballot petition is a Class D felony in Indiana. According to Dale Simmons, co-legal counsel for the Elections Division, the statute of limitations for Class D felonies is five years.
According to the newspaper’s investigation, the evidence suggests that at least 19 pages of Obama’s petitions were copied by two individuals.
If only there had been someone around to challenge those petition signatures, someone like the 1996 edition of Barack Obama.
If we really cherish the right to vote we should make the penalties associated with vote fraud much more stringent, e.g. minimum 5 years in jail for something like this.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseTwo problems with your suggestion. One, there wouldn't be any Democrats left to vote, and two, the cost of building all the new jails would be prohibitive.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI don't know, this sounds pretty good to me, 5 years is a long time. I'm Tweeting this article.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWhat's a little fraud here and some intimidation there when the election of The One, the first African American President, is involved? Any and all complaints should be filed with the Obama DOJ's Civil Rights Division for immediate investigation and dismissal.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseYou are absolutely right. This administration is infected with fraud and deceit, lies and misinformation. If the media were legitimate, Obama and his cohorts would be investigated and thrown out of office.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseShhhhhhhhhhhhh everyone. If we all sit back and stay silent Obama will offer up the same signatures and we can catch him this time around. The FEC will probably prove more vaulable exposing the sins of Obama than Holder and company ever will. However, I am not holding my breath.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseConsidering the Proglodyte-Left's fanatic pursuit of psychological projection, whereby they accuse their opponents of every crime or malfeasance imaginable, but only *after* road-testing it themselves, this development comes as no surprise whatsoever...
This might easily rise to the level of an impeachable offense, save for the unavoidable fact that it's BHO's own Justice Dept. that would immediately take charge of the mandatory obstruction & obfuscation, which mould be done in such ways as to maximize the martyr-factor and would in any case successfully delay all forward progress until well after next November.
Far better at this point in time to fashion this material as one more club (to go with all the rest: Solyndra, Fast & Furious, NBP in Philly, etc, etc) with which to flog the incumbents in the campaign just ahead. This holds the *distinct* advantages of a finite timeline *and* far greater odds of success...

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIf there were even 1 out of the 50 Secretaries of State that took their job seriously and required proof that a Presidential Candidate is a Natural Born Citizen, as required by the Constitution, before allowing that candidate's name to appear on the ballot, we could have avoided 4 years of the so-called 'birther' controversy.
Instead of waiting until the opportunity arose to destroy Donald Trump by releasing his Birth Certificate, O would have had to spend $12 to get it released so he could appear on the ballot.
It still amazes me that it is literally no one's job to verify that a candidate actually meets the minimum requirement for office. There are precisely zero officials in any capacity at any level of government that have the authority to check a Presidential candidates citizenship.
Worse, no individual, organization or State in the country has standing to sue in court over the issue. This was demonstrated conclusively in court after court as they refused to grant standing so they wouldn't have to look at the merits of the case.
Even the Supreme Court declined to consider the issue - though they refuse to say why.
It will be interesting to see what happens if Marco Rubio gets the VP nod. The D's didn't have any scruples about going after McCain on this issue - he testified on the Senate floor as to his citizenship qualification for President.
One thing is absolutely certain: if Rubio is the VP candidate, the Leftist Media will assault him on the issue and will be completely immune to the charge of hypocrisy.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseTo quote Hugh Hewitt, if it's not close, they can't cheat.
They know that once an election has been certified, nobody can take the office away from the "winner." We need to convict more cheaters and give them substantial punishment, and I don't mean fines.
That being said, the process is antiquated. Does anybody think that they couldn't have gotten enough signatures without taking shortcuts? They hire people to collect signatures, people like ACORN, who then start filling in signatures because they're lazy.
I don't know a good answer, but this is just pro forma jumping through hoops. Maybe they ought to keep the petitions in the county clerks offices and require people to go there, present ID and sign in the presence of a county clerk or deputy. I've always thought that voting is an important enough right that we shouldn't make it so easy to commit fraud. If you can't be bothered to go somewhere to registered, you don't deserve to vote. Same with petitions to put candidates and issues on the ballot.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIt's hard for me to get excited about fraud at the petition stage. Obviously, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were both going to be on the ballot. This fraud didn't affect the outcome of any election; it just meant that some campaign volunteer didn't have to work as hard.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbusePaul-in DC shows a remarkable lack of concern for what is right. Whether or not "Democratic" fraud impacted on the election is not relevant, it is wrong, wrong, wrong. Your perception of what is important is entirely reflective of the morality of where you live and the present administration of Obama, Holder, Reid, etc. Come back, America, and deposit this trash into the dustbin of history.
