Over on the homepage, I lay out five key lessons from Florida: The gender gap returned with a vengeance; the elderly abandoned Newt: early voting closed the window for Gingrich to help himself in the final days; Romney ran stronger among evangelicals than most expected: and Newt underperformed where he needed it most, in the Panhandle and key northern Florida counties.
Oh, and some GOP consultants are talking about making the national party convention in Tampa “more interesting and productive than most.”
Was this a poll of American women? Republican women? Women who have been married to Newt (two to one against)?
Women generally being more perceptive than men, they're picking up on what everybody eventually does about Newt -- he's smart, interesting, provocative... and he wears out his welcome.
That "BEST IF USED BY NOVEMBER 1998" stamp on Newt is there for a reason.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseYou can almost hear the collective spit-take when Newt starts spouting off on religion and morality. Given the state of the economy, he might be able to overcome some of his glaring character flaws, but not his biggest one...arrogance.
Reply to this commentLinkReport Abusecome on Jim. you and the rest of the media would do well to spend/live in the south. what you have in SC in terms of "women" are for the most part uneducated, sunburned and easily wowed by a smart man like Newt who rails at the media and uses the word "fundamental" a bazillion times! in Florida, the female vote is more sophisticated and as such bailed out on the Newtster big time for squeaky clean Mitt. it's very simple
