Maybe the Bush family isn’t so opposed to Newt Gingrich after all . . . at the very least, they seem to have little disagreement about sitting down with Nancy Pelosi. She will speak Feb. 20 at the George (H. W.) Bush Presidential Library Center at Texas A&M University.

this is what I hate HATE about politics, maybe just modern politics. Pelosi was one of the most poisonous members of congress in the Aughts -- fighting the Bush administration on all of its war efforts in the most hateful way. Now they will invite her to their Center to, what? backslap and giggle aboutt he good old days? Hell with that. Pelosi probably helped kill hundreds of Americans during the wars by her hateful obstructionism. Unless Andy Card is going to stand up and tell her to "Go to Hell" and call her a traitor, what is the point?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThe point is exactly to backslap and giggle about the good old days. It's how Democrats fool Republicans (not a daunting task) into thinking everyone is great friends. That way, Republicans will stay resolutely focused on New Tone, collegiality, reaching out, finding common ground and cringe-inducing flattery. They aren't the stupid party for nothing.
