The good folks for Americans for Prosperity have unveiled a new ad, featuring Obama voters from 2008 discussing how four years later, they feel the president hasn’t earned their vote a second time.
While I love the concept of the ad, something about the tone or feel of this commercial feels “off” to me. I don’t know if it’s the music, or the quiet, mournful tone of the voters in it… I guess I wonder if you’re as disappointed with Obama’s performance as I would suspect, whether you wouldn’t feel a little misled or manipulated by the image you saw in 2008. It’s almost as if they’re apologizing to the president for not supporting him a second time.
But obviously, I’m not in the target audience of similarly disenchanted former Obama voters. Perhaps it will resonate with that demographic more.
