The Crowd vs. the Incumbent


Sometimes big primaries can be harmful, but they’re usually an indicator that the opposing incumbent is perceived as vulnerable. In West Virginia, seven Republicans have filed papers to run against Democrat Allan Mollohan. Five Republicans are running against Jim Marshall in Georgia. (CQ is feeling better about Marshall’s chances, however.)

Six Republicans are running against Melissa Bean in Illinois.
