What Does Creigh Deeds Have Against State Bonds?

The Fairfax Chamber of Commerce endorsed Republican Bob McDonnell in the Virginia governor’s race. A representative of the organization mentioned on a McDonnell-campaign-organized conference call today that in their discussions with rival Creigh Deeds, the Democratic candidate said he did not support the use of state bonds to finance transportation projects.

Really? It’s not like the state has a bad history with bonds; quite the opposite:

Virginia excels in its bond rating and has held its AAA bond rating for 70 years, longer than any other state. Financial professionals place a high degree of confidence in how Virginia manages its finances. Virginia shares first place with six other states, including Maryland and North Carolina.

Is it possible he meant he opposes Barry Bonds?
