Obama: ‘We can’t eat as much as we want… and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK.’

Life imitates parody.

Jeff Dobbs
, a little while back, saw Michelle Obama’s statement that “The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more.”

And he responded, “Three things I will not tolerate: You cannot attack my faith. You cannot attack my family. And you cannot lay a hand on my pie.”

Barack Obama today: “We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” Obama said.

Would an Obama Administration really mean an end to “eating as much as we want?”

I want to jokingly ask if that includes airstrikes on buffet tables, or John Kerry’s “global test” being followed up by Barack Obama’s “global diet,” but I’m semi-serious — Obama apparently feels Americans eating as much as they want is something that cannot continue, or at least with other countries’ approval. What will his administration do to change that? If he isn’t going to act as president on this matter, why bring it up?

UPDATE: The new chant at Obama’s rallies: “Can we eat as much as we want?” “NO, WE CAN’T!”
