Giuliani Denies Drop-Out Rumors
Is Rudy in or is he out?

By NR staff

he phone lines have been burning all day long in political and media circles over the future of the New York mayor’s senatorial candidacy. The mayor’s press office just released a statement reaffirming that he’s in the race-but it is likely to be parsed as closely as John McCain’s body language yesterday. Many pros in New York still wouldn’t be surprised if Giuliani drops out soon. Here’s the statement by Bruce Teitelbaum, campaign manager for Friends of Giuliani: "I spoke to the Mayor this afternoon. His announcement [about his marriage] had nothing to do with politics or with his campaign for United States Senate. Mayor Giuliani will continue to move forward on a decision concerning his health in the coming days. The campaign itself remains all systems go. The Mayor will be in Pelham, New York, for a fundraiser later today and will attend a nationally televised town hall meeting on MSNBC next week."
