Hanover Blasts Giuliani
More amazing doings in NY.

By National Review staff

n a statement that stunned the New York political world, Donna Hanover publicly blamed estranged husband and New York mayor Rudy Giuliani for the break-up of their marriage today, in an another blow to a senatorial campaign that suddenly is reeling. New York political observers are at a loss to remember a day quite like this one. The text is as follows:

“Today’s turn of events brings me great sadness. I had hoped that we could keep this marriage together. For several years it was difficult to participate in Rudy’s public life because of his relationship with one of his staff members.

Beginning last May, I made a major effort to bring us back together. Rudy and I re-established some of our personal intimacy through the fall. At that point he chose another path.

Rudy and I will now discuss the possibility of legal separation. For security reasons, for the next several months at least, the children and I will remain at Gracie [Mansion, the Mayor’s residence].

I thank all of the people who have sent me their love, and I will have no further remarks today.”
