The Corner

The one and only.

It seems to me that the White House is behaving incoherently on all sorts of things (terrorism, for example), and the incredible decision to deliver Solicitor General documents to the Dems is yet another case. These guys are now so eager to be loved that they have totally abandoned basic principles, like executive privilege. By giving materials–which all previous presidents considered the sole property of the executive branch–to the legislature, they’ve opened the door to endless fishing expeditions. No doubt they will try to draw the line somewhere, but, having abandoned the principle, they will find it very difficult.

Yeah, the Democratic Senators are desperate to Estradify Roberts, but why should the White House bolt and run?

Its getting harder and harder to find good people willing to serve in the Executive Branch, and this bit of panicky misjudgment will make it harder still.
