Just to follow the travails of the family of my New Orleans born friend: I reported that his mother’s and brother’s house in St. Bernard Parish had been destroyed by tornadoes. Apparently they struck further south. The house is only (only!) completely underwater. Meanwhile, neghbors two blocks away swam to the safety of a five story building, from which they were helicoptered out. Think of the logistics of swimming into a five story building: it’s not like there are flood doors one storey, or one and a half storeys up. Apparently they were let in by residents who were trapped inside.

The Corner

The one and only.
