Gang of 14

Unfortunately, my day job doesn’t allow me to correspond endlessly with John, but he was wrong about the Gang of 14 deal. The White House withdrew several nominees in exchange for several others. It is now consulting with the Senate in a way where Senate liberals seem to have the upper hand — hence, Miers and not Luttig, Jones, and on and on. And the filibuster, if left alone, remains a tool of the left to pull out whenever it wishes. Indeed, several Democrats threatened to use the filibuster against this nomination, had the nominee been one of the stellar candidates John himself says he would have preferred. So, Nostradamus he is not. Jeanne Dixon, perhaps.
