Flanigan’s Withdrawal a Loss?

TIm Flanigan has withdrawn his nomination to be Deputy Attorney General. Pat Leahy may be right sometimes, but no with Flanigan. The idea that he was unqualified to be Deputy Attorney General is ludicrous, and the Democratics Senators’ fishing expedition to find non-existent ethical problems was shameful. Flanigan was an excellent nominee. Conservatives in particular should be outraged that Senate Democrats’ obstructionism succeeded in this case. He is largely credited with the soundness of the White House Counsel’s office during Gonzales’ tenure, and he would have brought his insights, talents, and conservative principles to the administration of the Justice Department as well.
