Hart Agonistes

For the record, if I had to arrange in order the things that bother me the most about Jeffrey Hart’s piece I would not put his discussions of abortion, southern yahoos or market utopianism at the top. It’s his appeal to William James’ philosophy as the “best guide” for the conservative mind. This has fallen out of the conversation. But that’s a topic for another day — or at least another hour.
