Jim Webb makes some excellent points in this NY Times op-ed. People can
criticize Kerry and Murtha regarding their policy, but questioning their
records will come back to bite Republicans/conservatives, especially
those who haven’t served, on the ass.
Jim is a thoughtful critic of the war. He is a bonafide war hero–his
Navy Cross could just as easily have been a Medal of Honor. He has
fought hard for the dignity of Vietnam veterans. Indeed, no one has done
more to counter popular misconceptions about those who served in Vietnam
than he has. He was an assistant secretary of defense and Secretary of
the navy under Reagan. He is certainly no Bush hater. Although we differ
on the war, I am proud to call him a friend and a fellow Marine.
Supporters of the administration ignore his advice at their peril.
